Following a pollution incident, fears had been raised by the Environment Agency that the macro-invertebrate community would take a long time to recover, after their sampling data suggested a high level of impact. Argus Ecology resampled the stream using standard methods, calculated Biological Monitoring Working Party (BMWP) and Average Score per Taxon (AST) indices, and demonstrated that significant recovery had taken place over a much shorter timescale.
